Basurero is featured in Marrano de Marrano

” ‘Trash’ is honest and direct work that, without any moralizing tint, nor narrative exaggerations seeks to lead the viewer to find the different realities that lie at the heart of a city that is kind and broad for the tourist but full of inequalities and injustices to their poorest, in an environment where survival is highest above any other human feeling.”

                                                                                        — Marrano de Marrano

Basurero is featured in Marrano de Marrano, a Columbian movie blog, and is showcased as one of the films to be screened digitally in the upcoming Vancouver Asian Film Festival 2020.  The festival will be open on November 1 and will be screening until November 8, 2020.

The review was appreciative of the film’s take on the Philippine drug war without resorting to any moral dichotomization and pretensions in its account.

Basurero goes to Vancouver for VAFF 24 on November 1-8

Basurero is heading to Vancouver for our Canada Premiere at the 24th Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF 24) on November 1-8, 2020.

We are grateful to the VAFF 24 organizers for this giving us this opportunity.

The VAFF is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the diversity and depth of Asian culture and identity in film and media, and to help North American Asian actors and filmmakers more authentically and more powerfully define and express themselves on screen.

Through its annual film festival and many other programs and events hosted in Vancouver, VAFF’s mission is to engage in, support, and amplify Asian presence in film and television.

VAFF is the longest-running Asian film festival in Canada. It was founded in 1995 and debuted in September 1997. Since then, tens of thousands of film lovers have experienced a diverse selection of North American-Asian and international films.
